Art in Island Date: Tickets, Timing and Dinner After

A date at Art in Island works as a late-afternoon museum visit with dinner back in Araneta City: arrive by about 4:30 PM, give the rooms 90 minutes, then take a short ride to Korean barbecue at Romantic Baboy or Korean hotpot at Dookki. Go from Tuesday to Sunday, because the museum is closed on Mondays.

Hours, tickets and how long to stay

The museum is an interactive media art museum built around 3D art and projections, at 175 15th Ave in Brgy. Socorro. It opens at 11 AM and closes at 6:30 PM from Tuesday to Friday, or 7:30 PM on Saturday and Sunday. Mondays it is shut.

Plan on 90 minutes inside, and leave a margin before closing: arrive by 4:30 PM on a weekday, or 5:30 PM at the latest on a weekend. Going late in the day is deliberate. The visit ends as dinner begins, and neither of you has to fill a gap in between.

Entry is ticketed, and tickets are sold ahead on Klook. Expect ₱500 to ₱1,500 a head, and check the current price there before you travel. Buy the tickets first and the date and the cost are both settled before the ride.

Getting to the museum from Araneta City

This is the one stop in a Cubao night that is not on foot. 15th Ave is a short ride from Araneta City, about 9 minutes as a rough figure, before traffic.

Meeting at the museum door is simpler than meeting in Araneta City and riding over together. Each of you books a ride, and the shared ride comes afterwards, on the way to dinner.

Korean dinner once you are back

Dinner happens back in Araneta City, and two Korean kitchens fit the timing. They are in different buildings, which decides the rest of the night.

  • Romantic Baboy is unlimited Korean barbecue on the ground floor of Ali Mall. Expect ₱500 to ₱1,500 a head.
  • Dookki is unlimited cook-it-yourself tteokbokki and Korean hotpot at Upper Ground B of Gateway Mall 2, in the same price range.

Both keep mall hours: open until 9 PM from Sunday to Thursday and 10 PM on Friday and Saturday. An unlimited meal needs time, so the mall's closing hour matters more than the museum's. On a weekday, leaving the museum at 6:30 PM and sitting down by about 7 PM gives two hours at the table. On a Sunday the museum stays open until 7:30 PM but the malls shut at 9 PM, so leave by 6:30 PM anyway.

Cooking at the table gives two people something to do together, which keeps the easy mood of the museum going through dinner.

If it is going well

From Ali Mall, llao llao on the upper ground floor has frozen yogurt until the mall closes. Cubao Expo is about a 5-minute walk away, and two places there stay open late: Cubao X Brewery, an open-air taproom open until midnight daily, and INT.Bar, a speakeasy behind a photobooth door.

From Gateway Mall 2, Paeng's Gateway Bowl on Level 3 has 24 lanes and stays open until midnight, long after the restaurants have closed.

The Monday fallback

On a Monday the museum is shut, and so is Pablo Galleries in Cubao Expo, which also closes on Sundays. Gateway Gallery is the art stop that stays open: its SiningSaysay exhibit tells Philippine history through art, it is free, and it is open daily from 10 AM to 6 PM on the fifth floor of Gateway Tower. It is a quieter hour than the museum, with no ride needed, and both Korean dinners are a short walk from it.

Plan the rest

The night-out planner can build this evening around your own answers and swap any stop that does not fit. For more evenings in the same area, read date ideas in Quezon City, sorted by mood or the list of things to do in Cubao. The Cubao date night guide covers the whole area, and the Gallery Wanderer is the archetype this kind of date belongs to.
