BGC Date Ideas: Dinner, a Mural Walk and a Hidden Bar
The simplest of the BGC date ideas is three stops: an early dinner at Em Hà Nội, Los Tacos MNL or Hikiniku to Come, a free walk along the ArtBGC murals, and a last drink behind a hidden door at Bank Bar or The Back Room. The walk is the point of the plan: it fills the gap between the bill and the bar with something to look at, and it costs nothing.
Stop one: an early dinner
Eat early, around 5:30pm or 6pm. The murals are outdoors, so an early table keeps the walk in the last of the light.
Three restaurants suit two people. All are indoors and run ₱500 to ₱1,500 a head.
- Em Hà Nội is known for phở gà and nem rán, and holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand.
- Los Tacos MNL makes tacos with Oaxacan technique, and holds a Bib Gourmand too.
- Hikiniku to Come does charcoal-grilled hamburg steak served three ways.
Open the map link on the name to see how far your pick sits from Burgos Circle, and choose the one closest to the start of the walk.
Stop two: the mural walk
The murals sit on two mapped routes between Burgos Circle and Serendra, one of 10 works and one of 12. For a date, take the 10-work route. It is the shorter list, and a walk that ends while both people still want more is better than one that drags.
Two things to know. Some works have been decommissioned, so expect a blank wall or two where the map promises a piece. And nothing on the route needs a ticket, so there is no reason to rush it.
This is the in-between stop of the night. It is where the conversation from dinner either keeps going or does not, and both answers are useful.
Stop three: a hidden door
Two BGC speakeasies suit this plan, and they differ in the one way that matters at this hour.
Bank Bar is at the RCBC Savings Bank Corporate Center on 26th St, entered from behind a convenience store. It is open until 1am. Choose it when the reveal is part of the fun: walking a date into a convenience store and out the back into a bar is a good trick the first time.
The Back Room is a 1920s-style gin speakeasy inside Shangri-La The Fort at 30th St corner 5th Ave, named in Tatler Best Bars 2026. Choose it for gin, or for rain. It runs late; ask the hotel for the closing time before planning a midnight arrival.
Both cost ₱500 to ₱1,500 a head. A side-by-side is in the two BGC speakeasies compared.
If it's going well
There are two ways to keep the night going, one up and one out.
Up: The Peak on floors 60 to 62 of the Grand Hyatt, billed as the country's highest rooftop bar. It runs late and costs ₱1,500 and up a head, so it roughly doubles the drinks budget. The cost is worked through in BGC's rooftop bar, costed.
Out: save the gondola ride at Venice Grand Canal for the second date. It is in McKinley Hill, about ten minutes away, a short ride and not a walk, so it does not fit a night built on foot.
The rain version
Rain is the weak point of BGC because High Street is open-air. If it is wet, skip the murals and go straight from dinner to The Back Room. The hotel around it has eight food and drink outlets, so dinner and drinks can both happen under one roof. The malls (Uptown, Mitsukoshi, SM Aura, One Bonifacio) are the cover between stops.
The budget in one line
Dinner at ₱500 to ₱1,500 a head, a free walk and a bar at ₱500 to ₱1,500 a head put two people between ₱2,000 and ₱6,000. To cut it right down, see a BGC date for two on ₱1,000.
The planner covers Cubao now and BGC is next; the areas page shows what is live. Until then, the same dinner, walk and nightcap shape is ready to plan in Cubao, and the wider list is in date ideas in Manila.
The planner covers Cubao now. BGC is next, and this post is written from the same kind of checked list.
Questions
- How much does a date night in BGC cost for two?
- On this plan, dinner and the bar are each ₱500 to ₱1,500 a head and the mural walk is free, so two people spend ₱2,000 to ₱6,000. A typical BGC night runs ₱1,200 to ₱3,000 a head.
- What can a couple do in BGC between dinner and drinks?
- Walk one of the two mapped ArtBGC mural routes between Burgos Circle and Serendra. It is free and outdoors. The routes have 10 and 12 works, and some pieces have been decommissioned.
- What happens to this plan if it rains?
- Drop the walk. Go from dinner to The Back Room, which is inside Shangri-La The Fort, a hotel with eight food and drink outlets under one roof.
