Monthsary: What It Means and 12 Ways to Celebrate
A monthsary is the monthly mark of the day a couple got together: "month" plus "anniversary", counted each month until the first year turns it into an anniversary proper. The spelling is monthsary, and the twelve plans below give one date for each month, sorted by area and budget.
Meaning, spelling and what people search
The plural is monthsaries, and the spelling is one r before the y. In the Philippines, "monthsary" is searched about 49,500 times a month, and the question "monthsary or monthsarry" about 14,800 (Semrush, October 2026).
Searches lean toward messages: "monthsary message" draws about 22,200 a month, and "monthsary date ideas" about 30. A plan, even a small one, goes with the message.
One month stands out: "6th monthsary" has about 1,000 searches of its own. The half year gets the big dinner in this list.
How the twelve are sorted
There are three plans per area, one at each price: under ₱500, ₱500 to ₱1,500, and ₱1,500 and up a head. Follow them in order for a year that spends big every third month, or pick by area. Cubao comes first because it is the only area live today; BGC, Makati and the Pasay Bay Area are next.
Cubao: months 1 to 3
1. Under ₱500: coffee, a board game, flowers. The Brewman Coffee pours espresso drinks and lends board games and books. It is open until 11 PM from Tuesday to Sunday, and from noon to 8 PM on Mondays. Buy a bouquet first at Farmers Garden, where the flower shops are open 24 hours. The walk between them is about 12 minutes.
2. ₱500 to ₱1,500: a film with dinner built in. Wolfgang's Premiere Lounge is a dine-in cinema with La-Z-Boy recliners on Level 4 of Gateway Mall 2. A ticket with a burger or sandwich was ₱990 in 2025. Check the schedule for screening times.
3. ₱1,500 and up: twelve seats. MŌDAN serves chef Jorge Mendez's modern Japanese tasting menu in a 12-seat room on 20th Ave, a short ride from Araneta City. It runs Wednesday to Sunday with seatings at 5:30 PM and 8:30 PM, and a reservation is required.
BGC: months 4 to 6
4. Under ₱500: murals and a burger. The ArtBGC murals are on two mapped routes of 10 and 12 works, from Burgos Circle to Serendra. They are free to walk, though some pieces have been decommissioned. Eat at Greenlight Burgers, which sells smashburgers ordered through a stoplight system.
5. ₱500 to ₱1,500: tacos and a hidden door. Los Tacos MNL makes tacos with Oaxacan technique and holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand. Afterwards, Bank Bar is a speakeasy entered from behind a convenience store, open until 1 AM.
6. ₱1,500 and up: the half-year dinner. Gallery by Chele holds one Michelin star, with tasting menus at ₱5,000 to ₱7,500. It is on the fifth floor of Clipp Center.
Makati: months 7 to 9
7. Under ₱500: a market morning. Salcedo Saturday Market and Legazpi Sunday Market are farmers' and food markets that each run from about 7 AM to 2 PM, on Saturday and Sunday. After the Sunday one, Washington SyCip Park is a free garden with art installations in Legazpi Village.
8. ₱500 to ₱1,500: gold, then a door with Braille on it. Ayala Museum shows pre-colonial gold and dioramas, Tuesday to Sunday from 9 AM to 6 PM. End at The Blind Pig, billed as Manila's first speakeasy, where the sign on the door is in Braille.
9. ₱1,500 and up: a starred table in Poblacion. Kása Palma holds one Michelin star, with tasting menus at ₱6,500 to ₱8,500, at 6042 Palma St.
Pasay Bay Area: months 10 to 12
10. Under ₱500: sunset and a burger. Watch the Manila Bay sunset from the Seaside Blvd esplanade or the free viewing decks at MOA Sky, then eat at Army Navy, which has burgers, burritos and a bay view.
11. ₱500 to ₱1,500: board a galleon. Museo del Galeón opened on 1 May 2026 with a full-scale 17th-century galleon to go aboard. It is ticketed and indoors. Dinner after is at Café Adriatico, a bistro in SM MOA.
12. ₱1,500 and up: the last monthsary. China Blue by Jereme Leung is Chinese fine dining with bay views at the Conrad. C Lounge, in the same hotel, is open to midnight and to 1 AM on Fridays and Saturdays.
Three rules, then plan one
- Check the day. Month 3 only works Wednesday to Sunday. Month 8 does not work on a Monday, when the museum is closed. Month 7 is a weekend morning.
- Set money aside early. Months 6 and 9 are tasting-menu nights, priced at ₱5,000 to ₱8,500.
- Write the message anyway. The searches say that is the tradition. The plan is what goes with it.
For months 1 to 3, the planner will build the night around your own answers and swap any stop you do not like; see the Cubao date night guide for how. When month twelve becomes year one, move on to the anniversary guide. For more plans sorted the same way, read date ideas in Manila by budget, and check the areas page for what is live.
