Date Ideas in Manila by Budget: ₱500, ₱1,500, ₱5,000

Date ideas in Manila come down to three budgets for two: at ₱500, one free stop and one coffee; at ₱1,500, a full evening in Cubao Expo or a single dinner elsewhere; at ₱5,000, dinner, an activity and a proper bar in any area. Start in Cubao, where Best of Luck and INT.Bar are both under ₱500 a head.

How to read the budgets

Every budget is a total for two. Venues are priced per head: under ₱500 a head, ₱500 to ₱1,500 a head, or ₱1,500 and up a head. Dated menu prices are used wherever a venue has one, and the rest is arithmetic on those three steps, so treat it as a range. Fares between stops are not included.

₱500 for two

At this level the plan is one free thing and one thing to drink.

• Cubao. Gateway Gallery is free until 6 PM daily. Cubao Expo is about an 8-minute walk away, where coffee at EXT.Cafe was ₱180 in 2024, so ₱360 for two. The convex mirror costs nothing.
• BGC. The ArtBGC murals are free, on two mapped routes. Greenlight Burgers is under ₱500 a head, which for two can already pass the budget, so share.
• Makati business district. Ayala Triangle Gardens and Washington SyCip Park are free. Coffee is Omotesando Koffee at Greenbelt 2. On weekends, Salcedo Saturday Market and Legazpi Sunday Market run from about 7 AM to 2 PM.
• Poblacion. Save it for a bigger budget. La Pita, Super Uncle Claypot and the bars all start at ₱500 a head.
• Pasay Bay Area. The sunset is free from the esplanade on Seaside Blvd and from MOA Sky. Coffee is Bo's Coffee inside SM MOA.

₱1,500 for two

This is the first budget where a whole evening fits, and it fits in Cubao.

Cubao Expo. The whole night stays in one compound:

1. 6:00 PM: coffee at EXT.Cafe, the quiet daytime café that shares its space with the speakeasy where the night ends.
2. 7:00 PM: a photo at the mirror.
3. 7:15 PM: dinner at Best of Luck. Start with the Pork & Shrimp Siomai (₱168 in 2024). It is closed on Mondays.
4. 8:40 PM: a drink at INT.Bar, the speakeasy behind a photobooth door; ask when the bar side opens. Without alcohol, go to llao llao in Ali Mall for frozen yogurt, about a 5-minute walk, or stay for coffee at Silingan Coffee, open until 11 PM.

At 2024 prices, two coffees and three plates at dinner (siomai ₱168, bacon bao ₱188, dry noodles ₱288) come to ₱1,004, which leaves about ₱500 for the drinks.

The other version stays in the Gateway malls: bowling at Paeng's Gateway Bowl, then Food Express. Each is under ₱500 a head, so the pair tops out at ₱2,000 for two.

BGC. The Mind Museum is under ₱500 a head and open from 9 AM to 6 PM, Tuesday to Sunday. Add a burger at Greenlight Burgers.

Makati business district. Ayala Museum, also 9 AM to 6 PM from Tuesday to Sunday, then Aida's Chicken for Bacolod-style grilled chicken. Both are under ₱500 a head.

Poblacion. One shared dinner at La Pita or Super Uncle Claypot, both ₱500 to ₱1,500 a head, and nothing after it.

Pasay Bay Area. Army Navy for burgers and burritos with a bay view, under ₱500 a head, with the free sunset before it.

₱5,000 for two

Now every area works, and the choice is what kind of night.

Cubao. Wolfgang's Premiere Lounge is a dine-in cinema with La-Z-Boy recliners, and the ticket includes a burger or sandwich: ₱990 in 2025, so ₱1,980 for two. Check the schedule, then add sunset drinks at The Edge Skyview Bar before the film, or dinner at Le Bistro if you skip the burger. Both are ₱500 to ₱1,500 a head, which puts the night at about ₱3,000 to ₱5,000.

BGC. The Venice Grand Canal gondola was ₱500 a person at 2023 to 2024 prices, so ₱1,000 for two. It is in McKinley Hill, a short ride from the BGC core and not a walk. Then dinner at Bolero or COCHI, and Bank Bar, the speakeasy behind a convenience store. Dinner and the bar are each ₱500 to ₱1,500 a head, so keep dinner light.

Poblacion. Dinner at Lampara, then The Spirits Library and Run Rabbit Run. Three stops at ₱500 to ₱1,500 a head can run past ₱5,000 for two, so keep it to one round at each bar.

Makati business district. Taquería Franco or Your Local, both with a Michelin Bib Gourmand, then The Blind Pig, the speakeasy with a Braille sign on its door. All three are ₱500 to ₱1,500 a head.

Pasay Bay Area. Museo del Galeón, then dinner at Café Adriatico in SM MOA, both ₱500 to ₱1,500 a head. The resort restaurants in Entertainment City, such as Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill, are ₱1,500 and up a head, and at ₱5,000 for two they can take most of the budget in one sitting.
