How the quiz picks a Kilig Classic

Four answers decide it. The room is "A corner table for two". The second question gets "The sure thing" or "Something a bit different", never "The place nobody's posted yet". The pace is "Somewhere in the middle" or "Out out", never "Slow and easy". And "Good food and a long talk" works at either pace, while "Something to see or hear" works only with "Somewhere in the middle": after "Out out" it makes a Gig Rat. "Something to do with our hands" never leads here.

The Cubao version, in order

The order is set by two fixed points: the rooftop opens at 5:30 PM, and the dessert counter keeps mall hours.

5:00 PM, flowers. Farmers Garden is open 24 hours. From there Gateway Mall is about a 6-minute walk. Buying first means carrying the bouquet all night, which is rather the point.

5:30 PM, the view. The Edge Skyview Bar is a rooftop pool bar on Level 22 of ibis Styles with a deck for the skyline and the sunset. It takes reservations and costs ₱500 to ₱1,500 a head.

7:00 PM, the table for two. Le Bistro is on the hotel's ground floor, open from 10 AM to 10 PM daily and in the same price range. Order the escargot, the beef bourguignon or the duck leg confit à l'orange.

8:30 PM, something sweet. Che Buono is a gelato counter on the ground floor of Gateway Mall 2, a ten-minute stop. It closes at 9 PM from Monday to Thursday and on Sunday, and at 10 PM on Friday and Saturday.

9:00 PM, the quiet last drink. World Cellar is a wine room inside World Kitchens on Level 4 of Gateway Mall 2. Gourmet Bar by Novotel is a ground-floor lobby lounge for coffee, snacks and cocktails. Check both bars' own pages for hours before choosing. Without alcohol, Silingan Coffee in Cubao Expo is quiet and stays open until 11 PM; it is about a 12-minute walk.

Other tables for two

The Italian one. Bellini's in Cubao Expo has truffle ravioli, burrata and tiramisu and takes reservations through its Facebook or Instagram page. It closes at 9:30 PM, so book for 7 PM at the latest.

The splurge. MŌDAN serves a modern Japanese tasting menu in a 12-seat room on 20th Ave, a short ride away. It seats at 5:30 PM and 8:30 PM from Wednesday to Sunday, a reservation is required, and it costs ₱1,500 and up a head. The early seating clashes with the sunset, so choose one.

If it rains. The rooftop is outdoors. Start at the wine room instead, or swap the view for Wolfgang's Premiere Lounge, a dine-in cinema with La-Z-Boy recliners. The ticket includes a burger or sandwich and was ₱990 in 2025. Pick the early show and check the screening times.

BGC. The view is The Peak, a rooftop bar on floors 60 to 62 of the Grand Hyatt, billed as the country's highest, at ₱1,500 and up a head. For dinner, Gallery by Chele has one Michelin star and tasting menus at ₱5,000 to ₱7,500, while Em Hà Nội serves phở gà and nem rán at ₱500 to ₱1,500 a head. The last drink is The Back Room, a 1920s-style gin speakeasy inside a hotel.

Makati. Dr. Wine Rooftop in Poblacion is an open-air rooftop for wine and sangria, running to 1 AM or 2 AM. For the table, Lampara is a neo-Filipino bistro with a Michelin Bib Gourmand and Blackbird is fine dining on the Michelin Selected list. For a quiet glass, Bibio pours natural wine in Poblacion.

Pasay Bay Area. Here the view comes first and costs nothing: sunset from the esplanade on Seaside Blvd, weather allowing. Dinner is China Blue by Jereme Leung at the Conrad, Chinese fine dining with bay views. C Lounge in the same hotel has a bay panorama and live entertainment, open to midnight and to 1 AM on Fridays and Saturdays.
