The Spirits Library, Poblacion: Building a Night Around It

The bar

Cocktails across Poblacion cost ₱300 to ₱555. That is a neighbourhood range, not this bar's price list, and pours from the vintage bottles may sit above it, so ask before ordering from the shelf. Two rounds each inside that range comes to ₱600 to ₱1,110 a head, which sits comfortably inside the ₱500 to ₱1,500 the bar usually costs.

When to arrive

Go after dinner and before anything loud. A bar chosen for its bottles is one to sit in, and that fits the early part of the evening, when both of you are still more interested in the drink and the conversation than in dancing. Apotheka, later in this post, is the loud one. This is the room for talking, so on a Friday or Saturday arrive early in the evening if that matters.

Where to go after

Another cocktail room. Run Rabbit Run at 4991 P. Guanzon is a cocktail bar in a converted house, named in Tatler Best Bars 2026.

Music. OTO at 5883 Enriquez is a listening bar with vinyl, DJ sets and cocktails. It closes at 1am, so leave for it by 11pm.

Wine. Bibio pours natural wine. It makes a better start to the night than an end to it, so slot it in before this stop rather than after.

The late option. Apotheka at 5672 Doña Carmen is a club with underground electronic nights, open until 4am and loud.

If it rains

The bar is indoors. Getting to it and away from it is the exposed part, because Poblacion is the least rain-proof part of Makati. On a wet night, make it a two-stop evening: dinner, then this bar, then home.

A sample evening

1. 7:30pm. Dinner at La Pita or Super Uncle Claypot. Dinner for two comes to ₱1,000 to ₱3,000 before drinks.
2. 9:30pm. The first round at The Spirits Library. Stay for a second if the conversation is good.
3. 11pm. Move to OTO before its 1am close, or stay put and end the night here.
