Poblacion, Makati: A First-Timer's Night Map
Poblacion, Makati is a handful of short streets where restaurants and bars sit close together and the night runs later than anywhere else in Makati, with bars open until between 2am and 4am. For a first visit, eat at La Pita or Super Uncle Claypot, have one unhurried cocktail at The Spirits Library, and decide after that whether the night ends at a listening bar or a club.
How the streets work
Most of Poblacion sits on four streets: Don Pedro, Guerrero, P. Burgos and Kalayaan. The venues cluster tightly, which is the whole appeal. A night here is a string of short hops on foot, not a ride between districts.
A few addresses show how it spreads out from those four. The Spirits Library is at 4963 Guerrero. Run Rabbit Run is at 4991 P. Guanzon, OTO is at 5883 Enriquez, Kása Palma is at 6042 Palma St and Apotheka is at 5672 Doña Carmen. Pin each stop on a map before leaving dinner, because the street numbers do not tell you how long each hop will take.
The crowd is twenty- and thirty-somethings, creatives, backpackers and expats, most of them on a crawl nobody planned in advance.
What catches first-timers out
The sidewalks are narrow. Everything is close, but all of the walking is outdoors. Wear shoes that can handle it, and keep the group small enough to move together.
Rain changes the plan. Almost every venue is indoors, so a table is dry, but each hop between bars is exposed. In the wet months, carry a small umbrella and cut the number of stops. If the forecast is bad, a Greenbelt cinema date keeps the whole evening under cover.
It starts late and ends later. In the business district next door, kitchens close at 10 to 11pm. Poblacion is on its second stop by then. Pace the drinks for a long night, or decide in advance where the night stops.
A first night in four stops
- Dinner. La Pita serves Middle Eastern food and holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand. Super Uncle Claypot does claypot rice, was named by Tatler in 2026 and is Michelin Selected. Expect ₱500 to ₱1,500 a head at either. For something quicker, Scratch Smashburgers makes smashburgers on brioche buns.
- One proper cocktail. The Spirits Library is a cocktail bar with vintage bottles, and it placed No. 98 on the Asia's Best Bars 2026 extended list. Make this the stop for sitting and talking.
- A second room. Run Rabbit Run is a cocktail bar in a converted house, named in Tatler Best Bars 2026. The other choice is OTO, a listening bar with vinyl, DJ sets and cocktails. It closes at 1am, so go before midnight.
- If it's going well. Apotheka is a club with underground electronic nights and monthly drag balls, open until 4am. It is loud, so this is the end of the night, not a place to talk.
On a dry evening there is a fifth option to open with: Dr. Wine Rooftop, an open-air rooftop for wine and sangria. It has its own post on starting the night there.
What it costs
A Poblacion night runs roughly ₱800 to ₱2,000 a head. Cocktails cost ₱300 to ₱555 and late food ₱150 to ₱350. Each of the four stops above falls in the ₱500 to ₱1,500 a head range.
The outlier is Kása Palma, which holds one Michelin star and serves tasting menus at ₱6,500 to ₱8,500. It shares the neighbourhood with the burger counter and the bars, and it is a different kind of evening. The full dinner range is in where to eat in Poblacion before the bars.
After the last bar
Poblacion has 24-hour food, and late plates run ₱150 to ₱350. Treat that as a bonus, not the plan: eat a real dinner at the start of the night, and a 3am plate becomes a choice rather than a need.
Where to go from here
For the bars in a workable sequence, read the five-stop Poblacion bar crawl. For the calmer half of Makati, six Makati date ideas splits its plans between Poblacion and the business district.
