Poblacion Restaurants: Where to Eat Before the Bars

The Poblacion restaurants to eat at before the bars come in three sizes: a quick burger at Scratch Smashburgers, a proper sit-down dinner at La Pita, Super Uncle Claypot or Lampara, and a full tasting menu at Kása Palma. The first four run ₱500 to ₱1,500 a head, and the fifth is an evening of its own at ₱6,500 to ₱8,500.

The quick dinner

Scratch Smashburgers makes smashburgers on brioche buns, and that is the whole pitch: this is the stop when the bars are the point and food is fuel. Expect ₱500 to ₱1,500 a head.

Use it when the plan has four or five bars in it and dinner should not take up the first hour of the night.

The sit-down dinner

Three restaurants fit a date where dinner matters as much as the drinks after.

La Pita serves Middle Eastern food and holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand.

Super Uncle Claypot is built around claypot rice. The kitchen was named by Tatler in 2026 and is Michelin Selected.

Lampara is a neo-Filipino bistro with a Bib Gourmand. Look up its exact street on the map before choosing it as the start of a walking night.

All three are indoors and run ₱500 to ₱1,500 a head, so dinner for two comes to ₱1,000 to ₱3,000 before drinks. For a Friday or Saturday, ask about a table ahead of the day and get the last order time when you do.

The tasting menu

Kása Palma is at 6042 Palma St and holds one Michelin star. Its tasting menus run ₱6,500 to ₱8,500, by far the biggest bill on this list.

A tasting menu changes the shape of the night. It takes the evening's budget and most of its hours, so plan one bar afterwards, not five. For an anniversary, it sits alongside the two-star room in the business district in romantic restaurants in Makati.

Matching dinner to the bar after

Poblacion is stronger on bars than on dinner, so choose the bar first, then the table that suits it.

• Before a careful cocktail. Dinner at La Pita or Super Uncle Claypot, then The Spirits Library at 4963 Guerrero, a cocktail bar with vintage bottles.
• Before a listening bar. Eat early. OTO, with its vinyl and DJ sets, closes at 1am.
• Before a club. A burger at Scratch Smashburgers and no rush. Apotheka is open until 4am.
• Before wine on a roof. Reverse it. Start with a glass at Dr. Wine Rooftop, an open-air rooftop, and come down for dinner. That plan is in Dr. Wine at the start of the night.

Getting between dinner and the bars

Poblacion's venues cluster on a few streets, mainly Don Pedro, Guerrero, P. Burgos and Kalayaan, so the walk from table to bar is short. The sidewalks are narrow and the walk is outdoors. On a wet night, each hop is exposed, which is a reason to pick a restaurant and a bar and stay with them.

Cheaper plates, later

Poblacion has cheaper food than these five. Late plates run ₱150 to ₱350, and some counters serve around the clock. Those are a late-night fallback, and a proper sit-down dinner from this list is the better start.
