The Gallery Wanderer: Art Galleries and Museum Dates in Manila

For art galleries in Manila that fit a date, start in Cubao: Gateway Gallery is free to visit until 6 PM, and Pablo Galleries shows contemporary Filipino art until 7 PM, about an 8-minute walk away. Go in the late afternoon, because the galleries in Cubao and Art in Island all close by 7:30 PM, then take the argument to a café.

How the quiz picks a Gallery Wanderer

Three answers decide it. The pace is "Slow and easy". The second question gets "The sure thing" or "Something a bit different". What makes a good night is "Something to see or hear". The room can be any of the three, and the drinks answer never changes the result. Change the pace to "Out out" and the result is a Gig Rat; answer the second question with "The place nobody's posted yet" and it is a Hidden-Door Hunter.

In plain terms: an easy pace, nothing too new and something to look at. The Gallery Wanderer page gives the night as something to look at first, then somewhere to talk about it. All eleven results are on the archetypes page, and each describes a kind of evening, never a kind of person.

A Cubao art afternoon, in order

The order follows the closing times, earliest first.

4:00 PM, the free one. Gateway Gallery is on the fifth floor of Gateway Tower on Gen. Aguinaldo Ave. Its SiningSaysay exhibit tells Philippine history through art. It is open from 10 AM to 6 PM daily and quiet.

5:15 PM, the contemporary one. Walk to Cubao Expo, about 8 minutes. Pablo Galleries is open from noon to 7 PM, Tuesday to Saturday, and closed on Sundays and Mondays. Allow half an hour.

5:45 PM, things on paper and vinyl. Favorite Edition sells zines, prints and stickers by local artists on consignment; check its own page for hours. Good Vibrations Records has a listening room and is open until 10:30 PM, Tuesday to Sunday. John's Antique Shop has old komiks, typewriters and radios until 7 PM.

6:45 PM, dinner. Best of Luck serves Hong Kong-style Chinese plates over two floors of two-seat tables, under ₱500 a head. Start with the Pork & Shrimp Siomai (₱168 in 2024). It is closed on Mondays.

8:15 PM, the coffee to argue over. The Brewman Coffee is quiet and open until 11 PM from Tuesday to Sunday. For a drink instead, INT.Bar names its cocktails after films and holds movie nights on Tuesdays.

What it costs

Little, which is the point of the angle. The first gallery is free. Dinner and coffee both come in under ₱500 a head, and the dinner plates have dated prices: siomai at ₱168, a bacon bao at ₱188 and beef tendon noodles at ₱288, all in 2024.

That also makes this a sound first date: public, quiet, cheap and easy to end after one stop. The rules are in first date ideas in Manila.

Sundays, Mondays and rain

On a Sunday the contemporary gallery is closed, so swap in Art in Island, an interactive museum built around 3D art and projections. It is open until 7:30 PM on weekends, ticketed, ₱500 to ₱1,500 a head and a short ride from Araneta City. On a Monday both of those are shut and only the free gallery is open, so pick another day.

Every stop above is indoors except the walk between Gen. Aguinaldo Ave and Cubao Expo.

Art dates in the other areas

BGC. The ArtBGC murals are free street art on two mapped routes of 10 and 12 works, between Burgos Circle and Serendra. Some pieces have been decommissioned, so expect gaps. They are outdoors. Indoors, The Mind Museum is a science museum with a planetarium, open from 9 AM to 6 PM, Tuesday to Sunday, at under ₱500 a head.

Makati. Ayala Museum shows pre-colonial gold and dioramas from 9 AM to 6 PM, Tuesday to Sunday, at under ₱500 a head. Washington SyCip Park in Legazpi Village is a free garden with art installations. Coffee is Omotesando Koffee at Greenbelt 2. Later, The Blind Pig is the speakeasy with the Braille sign on its door.

Pasay Bay Area. Museo del Galeón opened in May 2026 with a full-scale 17th-century galleon to board. It is ticketed and costs ₱500 to ₱1,500 a head. The Cultural Center's main building is shut, with reopening targeted for the end of February 2027, so do not plan around a show there.

Plan the Cubao version

The night-out planner covers Cubao now and can start a plan in the daytime, which suits gallery hours; BGC, Makati and the Pasay Bay Area are on the way.

Each stop has a longer guide: the two mural routes in BGC, an afternoon at the museum in Makati, tickets and timing for the 3D art museum and a date aboard the galleon.
